2009 AIAG Higher Purchasing and Suppliers Forum

of Auto Parts Held Successfully

The ¡°2009 AIAG higher purchasing and suppliers forum of Auto parts¡± hosted by Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) was sucessfuly held in Beijing Sep.25, 2009. The theme of the forum is ¡°out of the crisis¡ªchallenge, cooperation, win-win¡±. The forum invited the higher managers from famous auto enterprises such as Kreisler, Fiat, Shanghai SAIC, Changan Ford to have addressed the wonderful speech, which makes more and more Chinese appliers understand the buyers demand on the product¡¯s quality, logistics, etc. 
 
During the forum, the CNDC Reporter has interviewed the president: J.Scot Sharland of AIAG; Ms. Du Min, purchase and executive director of China Magna, and the majordomo of Delphi Asia Pacific region logistics.

Reporter: how do you think that there is still some inadequate need to be optimized?
J.Scot Sharland£ºChina auto parts suppliers are growing up rapidly; however, there are the gaps from satisfaction of requirements of Northern America main engine plants The most important is the first level parts suppliers should be possess the capability at lowering the cost and improve the products quality, technology and delivered on time.
Ms. Du min: most domestic enterprises lack the capability of go abroad, Magna regards the suppliers both abroad or the overseas equal competition. Aiming for making the domestic enterprises to be the international suppliers, MAGNA has the confidence and desire to help the domestic enterprises to go overseas, accelerate themselves products quality, establish a brand image, increase the import and exportation and cooperation between overseas and domestic;  to understand and expose the international market on time. 

Jeffery Richards£ºIn terms of Delphi current suppliers, we imported 60% of materials from overseas by supporting OEM three years ago, but now we purchase from domestic. That¡¯s because the suppliers have kept their level improved in the local industry chain. The most important we think that we do not value the suppliers with the lowest cost, but with the evidence of stable quality standard plus the integrity parts, that is the total optimized cost. I think that china¡®s auto industry development will reach its golden period within the 10 to 15 years due to its huge potential markets.


Serving as a link of AIAG china auto parts suppliers,  it has shortened the gap between the auto main engine plants and suppliers, expands the channel of supplying, as well as provided the more and better exchange platform for the auto main engine plants and auto parts suppliers by through the forum, It contributes great in improvements the exchange between the domestic and overseas technology as well as consolidates the industry chain.
