education trade fair in Cologne
Presentation of new teaching DVD
GDA will be presenting information on teaching materials relating to aluminium at the didacta trade fair in Cologne from 16-20 March 2010. Visitors to its stand (B 001 in Hall 10.1) will not only be able to find out more about the different teaching materials and information leaflets available: GDA will be presenting its new teaching DVD produced in co-operation with MedienLB.
The ¡®Aluminium kompakt¡¯ teaching materials include practical folders for use by teachers in schools as well as a teaching case that contains numerous teaching aids and samples related to aluminium. The ¡®Penguin Serviette-holder¡¯, ¡®Cube¡¯ and ¡®TV Tower¡¯ metalworking courses will be also on offer; these courses include all the necessary materials so that students can begin milling, turning or sheet metalworking in the classroom immediately.
The folders for teachers contain background information on aluminium as a material, files for producing overhead presentations and aids for students in the form of worksheets with solutions. The exercises and the worksheets, with contents specially prepared so as to be suitable for use in schools, provide information amongst other things on bauxite mining and aluminium production, the fields of application of the lightweight metal as well as its ecological properties. The worksheets for vocational schools have been revised and extended in co-operation with the Berufsschule f¨¹r Metalltechnik in Bremen, a school for vocational training in metallurgical engineering.
The teaching case contains numerous examples of the use of aluminium and other illustrative items: samples of bauxite and aluminium hydroxide and an aluminium ingot together with end-products such as an aluminium beverage can, a foil dish or a profile section exemplify the production processes used for the lightweight material.
